🔸Following the announcement of the release of Kamran Hekmati, the Iranian-American citizen detained in Iran, the campaign “Bring Our Families Home” on the social media platform X has urged the Islamic Republic and the U.S. government to “take the necessary steps to secure the release of Reza Valizadeh, another American citizen, from his prison in Evin.”
🔸The campaign wrote: “This is a small and low-cost action to demonstrate goodwill that returns a son to his elderly father and mother.”
🔸The “Bring Our Families Home” campaign is made up of “family members of American hostages and unlawfully detained individuals.”
🔸Reza Valizadeh, who previously worked for 10 years as a reporter for Radio Farda, resigned from the outlet in November 2022, and after some time living abroad, returned to Iran on 16 Esfand 1402. He was arrested on 1 Mehr 1403.
🔸In two court sessions, he was sentenced by Judge Ehsan Afshari to 10 years in prison on charges of “cooperating with the hostile U.S. government,” along with a ban on residence in Tehran province and neighboring provinces, a ban on leaving the country, and a ban on membership in parties and groups and political-social groups for a period of two years.
