The European Commission has approved €6.1 billion ($7 billion) in funding to bolster Ukraine’s air and missile defense.
According to Ursula von der Leyen, head of the European Commission, this financial aid will also include the production of ammunition, unmanned aerial vehicles, and electronic warfare equipment.
Von der Leyen, noting that this budget will help Ukraine “resist the ongoing escalation of Russian ballistic missile and drone attacks,” added: “Ukraine can now also purchase air defense system equipment, including PAC-3 missiles.”
The Ukraine support loan includes €30 billion for budget support and €60 billion for defense assistance over the years 2026 and 2027.
