Donald Trump has spoken about the return of oil flows to pre-war conditions and U.S. control of the Strait of Hormuz, but Farzin Nedimi, a defense and security affairs analyst, says that America’s control is limited to maintaining the southern shipping corridor, relatively clearing sea mines, and weakening the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ (IRGC) missile and radar capabilities, and that this still does not mean complete domination of the Strait of Hormuz.

He added that, overall, the passage of oil tankers has still not reached the level seen before the war, and that the IRGC continues to have the capability to disrupt shipping with missiles, drones, and sea mines.
