CENTCOM: We thwarted the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ attempt to take control of an American vessel

🔸U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said on Tuesday, September 24, that American forces, in response to the recent attempt by several Iranian small boats to trap an unmanned American vessel, decisively moved into action.

🔸CENTCOM spokesperson, speaking to Fox News and the Axios news website, said: “I can confirm that the Iranian small boats recently attempted to seize an unmanned American surface vessel, but after CENTCOM’s decisive response, the attempt failed. The vessel remains under U.S. operational control.”

🔸Earlier, Axios reported that the U.S. Army on Monday destroyed two Iranian small boats after an attempt by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps to seize an unmanned naval vessel that was patrolling the Strait of Hormuz.

🔸Axios, citing an American official, reported that U.S. forces discovered that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps was trying to capture the American unmanned vessel using these boats, and in response an American drone fired two missiles at the boats.

🔸According to the report, the boats were destroyed and most of their crew were killed.

🔸Iranian media on Monday evening, citing the deputy political, security, and social affairs of the Hormozgan provincial governorship, reported a “drone attack on two fishing boats in the waters of the Persian Gulf and the disappearance of a number of fishermen.”

🔸According to him, the attack took place near the port of Kargan in the waters of the Persian Gulf.

🔸The official, referring to what he called the “criminal enemy” as the perpetrator of the attack, added that as a result of the attack, a number of fishermen present on the two boats went missing and search and rescue operations began to find them.
