🔻Axios: CENTCOM is investigating a deadly attack on a wedding ceremony in Iran

Axios, the American publication, has reported that the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has begun an internal review into an incident that occurred during the U.S. attacks on Iran on Tuesday, resulting in some noncombatants being killed and injured at a wedding ceremony.

These officials said it has not yet been confirmed that the incident was directly the result of the U.S. attack, but if it is confirmed, it would be one of the most significant cases of civilian casualties since the war began six months ago between the United States and Iran.

According to U.S. officials, the deadliest incident for civilians to date occurred on the first day of the war, when a U.S. attack on a school in Iran resulted in 150 people being killed, most of them children. A U.S. official also said the military’s investigation into that attack would be finalized soon.

According to U.S. officials who spoke with Axios, Admiral Brad Cooper, the commander of CENTCOM, ordered an internal review of the attack on Wednesday.

The report is published after Reuters, citing weapons experts, reported that available evidence suggests the explosion at a wedding ceremony in the city of Kahestak was most likely caused by a direct hit from an American munition, not an indirect impact or a deviation of an Iranian air-defense missile.
