ASEAN, in the final statement of its meeting of foreign ministers, expressed concern about escalation in fighting after Israeli and American attacks on the Islamic Republic, and Iran’s retaliatory attacks by the government, and called for restraint, resolving differences through diplomacy, and ensuring security and freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

The bloc also supported continued diplomatic efforts and mediation to reduce tensions.
