Anwar Ibrahim, the prime minister of Malaysia, on Wednesday, 25 Shahrivar, said in response to the interception of a drone near Mecca that any attempt to threaten the security and sanctity of the holiest city for Muslims is “completely unacceptable.”
He thanked Saudi Arabia for its prompt action to protect the residents and pilgrims of Mecca, and called for restraint, a halt to attacks on non-military areas, and the resolution of tensions through dialogue.
A coalition led by Saudi Arabia announced that it intercepted and destroyed the drone before it entered Mecca’s airspace and attributed the attack to the Houthis. The Houthis have denied involvement in the attack.
