🔶 Amnesty International: Iran committed crimes against humanity in the 2022 protests

Amnesty International published a one-thousand-page report on Wednesday, 25 Shahrivar (16 September) about the crackdown on the “Woman, Life, Freedom” protests. In this report, 87 officials of the Islamic Republic have been identified and documented in the chain of command for the crackdown.

Amnesty International said that Islamic Republic officials, during the crackdown on the 2022 protests that resulted in the killing of hundreds of people, committed “crimes against humanity.”

The human rights organization said in its report—released in conjunction with the fourth anniversary of the “Woman, Life, Freedom” protests—that killings, torture, rape, and enforced disappearances are among the examples of “crimes against humanity” in the crackdown on the 2022 protests.

Amnesty International also said that the crackdown on protests in the beginning of this year had characteristics similar to the crackdown in 2022, but was carried out on a broader scale and with more violence and casualties.
