A shopkeeper in Tehran’s tools and hardware bazaar, by posting a video of a sharp increase in the prices of goods, says that in 1398 (2019/2020), about five billion tomans was enough to buy a shop, but now copper soldering wire, a ring priced at 200 million tomans, and three ten-piece columns of copper-base solder wire cost around six billion tomans.

Referencing the “230,000-toman dollar” and the rise in prices, he says: “It’s not at all clear how this path will continue,” and he emphasizes that shopkeepers’ concerns are not that their goods have increased in value, but that they want “everyone to have purchasing power and for everyone to be able to buy.”
