🔻7 years ago, on 18 Shahrivar 1398, Sahar Khodayari, “Blue Girl,” a supporter of Esteghlal, died from injuries caused by self-immolation. She had set herself on fire out of fear of being jailed for trying to enter Azadi Stadium while dressed as a man.
🔹Sahar Khodayari, the 29-year-old Esteghlal supporter, was arrested on 21 Esfand 1397 while trying to enter Azadi Stadium and was held in Qarchak Prison in Varamin until 29 Esfand.
🔹Leaked documents shared by the hacktivist group Justice for Ali showed that Sahar Khodayari in this case was accused of “wounding public chastity, insulting the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, intentional assault and battery, and insulting officers while they were carrying out their duties.”
🔹She set herself on fire on 11 Shahrivar 1398 in front of the courthouse in Tehran and, a week later, on 18 Shahrivar, died due to the severity of her burns.
🔹After her release and following the transfer of her case to the Revolutionary Court and the issuance of a six-month prison sentence, in protest of her conviction to jail for trying to enter the Azadi sports stadium, she carried out self-immolation and died on 18 Shahrivar 1398.
🔹Her death was widely reflected globally and among football fans.
