Docker has released Docker Desktop 4.42, a new update aimed at making local development smoother on Windows and across container-based workflows. The headline feature is native GPU acceleration for WSL2 on Windows, giving developers a faster path for workloads that rely on graphics processing or hardware-accelerated compute.
The update also expands Compose Watch, a tool that helps developers automatically sync code changes into running containers. Docker says the latest improvements are designed to reduce friction during active development, making iterative testing and debugging more efficient.
Another part of the release is a redesigned Dev Environments workflow. The company says the new approach is meant to simplify how teams set up and share development spaces, with a focus on faster onboarding and more consistent environments.
Docker Desktop 4.42 is available now. For developers working on Windows, especially those using WSL2, the release adds a set of practical updates that could streamline day-to-day container work.
