🔶 Wildfire; France calls for the relocation of another 55,000 people

Following unprecedented forest fires near the city of Bordeaux in the southwest of France, the authorities of the Gironde province asked 55,000 more people to evacuate their areas. Local officials said the decision was taken “after the flames rekindled.”

With this decision, the number of people who, as of Saturday evening, July 25 (August 3), have been moved due to the fires in Gironde province, has clearly surpassed the 200,000 mark.

According to the French Ministry of Defense, by Saturday evening, 1,500 soldiers were scheduled to be sent, mainly to help evacuate the areas affected, to the regions involved in the forest fires.

Earlier, French officials had also asked 8,000 people living on the outskirts of Bordeaux to evacuate the area. Accordingly, the lives of people in several neighborhoods in the cities of “Marschprim” and “Sestas,” located less than 30 kilometers southwest of Bordeaux, have been affected by the fires.
