While Islamic Republic officials insist only on targeting “U.S. military bases in the region,” the state newspaper “Iran” has, in a report confirming attacks on the region’s civilian infrastructure, described Kuwait as a “undeniable target.”

In an analysis of Iran’s attacks on Kuwait over the past few days, the newspaper Iran discusses various factors behind attacks on this country’s civilian infrastructure and says, “Kuwait supplies more than 90 percent of its drinking water through desalination plants, and targeting these facilities can disrupt the lives of millions of people.”

Over the past two weeks, the Islamic Republic has repeatedly attacked Kuwait’s desalination facilities and power plants, inflicting serious damage.

Continuing, the newspaper Iran describes Kuwait as a “undeniable target” and says, “From a military standpoint, Kuwait does not have the capacity to respond to Iran in kind and is heavily dependent on U.S. support; this imbalance of power makes Kuwait a safe option for Iran.” However, on Friday, the Wall Street Journal reported that Bahrain and Kuwait fighter jets have been secretly deployed to attack targets inside Iran.
