Raf Chikoni, head of the Joint Intelligence and Security Committee of Australia’s parliament, in an interview with Alireza Mahbi, a journalist with Iran International, described as unacceptable the threats made by the spokesperson of Iran’s Islamic Republic’s armed forces against staff of Persian-language media outlets, including Iran International.

Chikoni emphasized journalists’ right to work freely without intimidation or violence and listed the expulsion of the ambassador of the Islamic Republic, sanctions against the government’s officials, and placing the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in the list of state sponsors of terrorism as among Australia’s options in response.
