A U.S. diplomat told the UN Security Council that Sudan’s war is spilling into the Sahel, warned there is no military solution, and urged both sides to accept an unconditional humanitarian truce.

The conflict pits the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) under General al-Burhan, which includes Muslim Brotherhood-linked elements, against the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

Washington also warned terrorist groups are exploiting the growing instability across West Africa, including Mali.
