🔶 The United States removes Syria from the list of state sponsors of terrorism

Marco Rubio, the U.S. secretary of state, has told Congress that the Trump administration intends to remove Syria from the list of state sponsors of terrorism. With this action, the official process of removing Syria from the list has begun.

If, within the next 45 days, the U.S. Congress does not object to this move, Syria will be removed from this list after several decades.

Rubio said about this: “This is another historic step by President Donald Trump to give the Syrian people an opportunity to progress and thrive.”

He also added: “Lifting Syria’s sanctions will expand international trade and investment, will allow Syria to rebuild, and will open a new chapter for the people of this country.”
