🔶 The United States approved the sale of $2 billion in arms to Saudi Arabia
The U.S. Department of State said it has approved the sale of weapons worth approximately $1.96 billion to Saudi Arabia—an action taken at the same time as the war and tensions in the Middle East intensify.
The U.S. State Department also said that the sale will help advance the foreign policy and national security objectives of the United States by strengthening Saudi Arabia’s security.
Washington considers Saudi Arabia one of the main non-NATO allies and a factor for political stability and economic progress in the Persian Gulf region.
Beyond the Middle East, other parts of the world are also moving rapidly toward militarization, and arms manufacturers in almost all countries have benefited from this trend.
Data from the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) shows that the revenue of the world’s top 100 arms companies continues to rise.
