🔶 The price of the dollar in Iran has surpassed 236,000 tomans

At the same time as the economic situation in the country has worsened and pressure on the currency market has increased, the value of Iran’s currency is still declining and the prices of foreign currencies are rising more and more.

Based on the rates announced for Saturday, 21 Shahrivar (12 September), the price of one US dollar in the open market has surpassed 236,000 tomans.

Other major currencies have also become more expensive over the past week; the euro, with an increase of about 5.6%, reached around 274,760 tomans, and the price of the British pound rose by about 5.8%, to more than 319,000 tomans.

The unprecedented increase in the price of the dollar continues as Iran’s economy comes under intensifying pressure from the United States, and the devaluation of the rial leads to further price hikes and higher cost of living.

Along with the increase in the dollar’s price, the government also raised the price of “third-rate” gasoline from 5,000 tomans to 10,000 tomans.

According to economic experts, the continuation of this situation could set the stage for fresh street protests and flare up unrest in the market again.
