The New York Times, citing several U.S. officials, wrote that an attack by the Islamic Republic on Jordan that on Friday led to the deaths of two American soldiers and the disappearance of a soldier was the fourth attack on American forces in that country over the past five days.
According to these officials, these attacks in total injured dozens of American soldiers and damaged some Black Hawk helicopters.
The officials said that the attacks and the damage caused by them show that the forces of the Islamic Republic still have significant missile reserves and have become more skilled in crossing U.S. air defense systems.
The New York Times wrote that the importance of Jordan for U.S. operations has increased, because the Pentagon, before and in the early days of the war, transferred part of its forces from Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar to Jordan and Israel.
According to U.S. officials, restrictions imposed by some of America’s regional allies on the deployment of forces and on American aircraft flying over their territory have also increased Jordan’s role in Washington’s operations.
The Pentagon declined to comment on the matter.
