The lie of hunger in Gaza:
This is further evidence of the surplus of food available in the Gaza Strip.
Only in the past two weeks, the Hamas-run Ministry of Economy reported the destruction of more than 30 tons of food across Gaza, including: • 2.1 tons of frozen chicken in Khan Younis • 200 kilograms of expired semolina and snacks • 106 kilograms of frozen chicken in northern Gaza • more than 14 tons of cheese in Gaza Governorate • 13.5 tons of frozen chicken in central Gaza • flour stocks
These reports confirm what Israel has consistently said: the volume of food entering Gaza exceeds the population’s needs by a significant margin. Gaza is full of food.
When food is stockpiled until it spoils and must be destroyed at this scale, the conclusion is clear. This is not a shortage. This is a market with oversupply, suffering from poor storage and mismanagement, a situation intensified by Hamas’s taxation on goods and its control over their circulation.
