🔶 Tehran police announced the arrest of a suspect who threw a Molotov cocktail in Ponak
Tehran Greater Police Command’s public information center announced the arrest of a person who, according to police, on Monday night, 23 Shahrivar, from the top of a building in the vicinity of Mirzababayi Boulevard, threw three Molotov cocktails at the crowd present in Ponak Square.
According to the announcement of the capital’s police, the incident occurred at around 21:30 on Monday, 23 Shahrivar. Police say that the accused person, after throwing three Molotov cocktails from the top of a building in the Mirzababayi Boulevard area, immediately fled the scene.
Ponak Square is the venue for night gatherings of supporters of the government.
Tehran Greater Police Command announced that after reviewing images from closed-circuit cameras in the area, the image of the accused person while committing the crime was obtained, and his apparent characteristics and the vehicle he used to escape were identified.
According to the Law Enforcement Force, the person in question intended “to illegally leave the country through its western borders.”
Police said that in the early hours of Tuesday, 24 Shahrivar, the person was identified and arrested in a surprise operation.
