Syria’s Ports and Customs Authority announced that it has seized a shipment of smuggled weapons en route to Lebanon. Based on the statement by this body, the shipment included 226 bombs and had been concealed in a vehicle heading to Lebanon.

Last Sunday, Syrian officials also announced that they had seized a shipment, including long-range missiles, guided anti-tank missiles, and a drone, at this country’s border with Iraq.

Hezbollah denied any activity in Syria and called these allegations “fabricated and baseless narratives aimed at harming Hezbollah.”

In its statement, Syria’s Ministry of Interior referred to Hezbollah as “terrorist semi-militia groups.” Hezbollah receives comprehensive support from the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Last Thursday, Syria also seized an arms shipment sent to Hezbollah.

These seizures are taking place amid pressure from the United States, Israel, and the Lebanese government on Hezbollah to disarm. Joseph Aoun, Lebanon’s president, will meet today at the White House with Donald Trump, the president of the United States.
