Severe clashes between Islamic Republic security forces and unidentified armed men spread to residential areas of the city of Zahedan in southeastern Iran on Saturday, 21 Shahrivar.
According to a report by the human rights group “حالوش” (HaLoosh), the clash lasted nearly seven hours.
The group reported that at least three vehicles of the security forces were attacked, multiple explosions occurred, and routes around a local mosque were blocked.
Sources for HaLoosh said dozens of security personnel were killed or injured, but this figure has not been independently verified.
The identity of the armed men and the cause of the clash remain unclear.
