Scott Bessent, the U.S. Treasury Secretary, announced that the European Union has joined Washington’s campaign to intensify economic pressure on the Islamic Republic, in what he called an “economic isolation operation”; a campaign whose aim is described as cutting Tehran’s access to financial resources and the international banking network.
