🔶 Rubio: Trump’s policy toward Iran is “like eyes in front of eyes”

Marko Rubio, the U.S. Secretary of State, on Thursday, July 23 (1 Mordad), on the sidelines of the ASEAN summit of heads of state in Manila, told reporters that Donald Trump’s policy toward the Islamic Republic is “like eyes in front of eyes,” and that Iran “will pay a heavy price.”

He said that Iran “is likely not yet ready for a deal, but it may soon become prepared.” Rubio added: “Despite Iran’s boasts and claims, they are already taking serious damage, and they will continue to suffer even more losses.”

Rubio’s remarks come in response to comments by Abbas Araghchi, the foreign minister of the Islamic Republic, who on Wednesday, July 22, had said: “Our defensive doctrine is clear: eye for eye.”

The U.S. foreign minister, pointing out that the United States has carried out its commitments under the agreement with Tehran, said: “Maybe, in the next few days, Iran will change its mind.”
