Reuters reported that the Islamic Republic has added 11 other ships to the blacklist of vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz, bringing the number of ships on this list to 56.

Under the regulations announced, ships placed on this list may face fines, detention, or seizure if they attempt to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. Tehran had previously put 45 tankers on the blacklist for alleged violations of the rules set for passing through this waterway.

An entity known as the “Administration of the Persian Gulf Strait” also warned that ships that do not cooperate with vessels from this list for transporting cargo will be added to the blacklist.

Reuters had previously reported that at least three Indian refineries and a major international energy company decided to stop using the ships placed on this list due to security concerns.
