〰 Politico: President Trump plans to play an important role in the Republicans’ midterm campaign, but some GOP candidates in close races refuse to take him as their symbol because of low levels of satisfaction with him.

Republicans face a difficult balancing act: distancing from Trump could alienate our MAGA voters and jeopardize access to more than $400 million in “super PAC” resources, while closeness to him could hurt candidates amid voter dissatisfaction over the war with Iran and rising costs.

Some Republicans have privately asked Trump’s team not to travel to their constituencies, while others are cautious about distancing from him. So far, the party has not had an integrated strategy for managing Trump-related conflicts.
