Javad La‘l Mohammadi, an imprisoned teacher, a cultural teachers’ union activist, and one of the signatories of “Statement 14,” has been subjected to beatings in Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad.

According to a report published on Thursday by the “Committee for the Freedom of Political Prisoners,” Mr. La‘l Mohammadi, who is serving his prison sentence in Ward 6/1 of Vakilabad Prison, was targeted with physical violence inside the prison.

The Committee for the Freedom of Political Prisoners, expressing concern about the health status and personal safety of this imprisoned teacher, has called for an end to violence against prisoners, immediate and independent investigations into this incident, and the unconditional release of all political prisoners.

Javad La‘l Mohammadi is a teacher, a cultural teachers’ union activist, and one of the signatories of “Statement 14”; a statement that, in 2019, called for Ali Khamenei’s resignation and a change to the constitution. He was last arrested at his home in Mashhad in Mehr 1400 (October 2021) by security forces, and he is currently serving his sentence in Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad.
