🔻Iraqchi to Lavrov: The current insecurity in the Strait of Hormuz is a direct result of America’s bad faith

Iranian media have reported on Abbas Iraqchi, Iran’s foreign minister, meeting his Russian counterpart on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s foreign ministers council meeting, being held in Kyrgyzstan.

At the meeting, which was held on Friday, Mr. Iraqchi said that the current insecurity in the Strait of Hormuz is a “direct result of America’s bad faith.”

He said: “The Islamic Republic of Iran, as it has demonstrated seriousness in the field of diplomacy, is determined to defend its national interests and security and to prevent America from exploiting the Strait of Hormuz to threaten Iran’s national security.”

Mr. Iraqchi had spoken by phone yesterday with the foreign ministers of Egypt and Oman.
