Iranian media say an oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz that “had left the route specified by the Islamic Republic of Iran” was “exploded after hitting a sea mine.”

According to Mehr News Agency, “initial assessments indicate that, despite prior warnings, this oil tanker deviated from the corridor designated by Iran and ended up in an area outside the safe navigation route.”

The report says that “the incident occurred at a time when the Strait of Hormuz in recent days has seen an increase in the movements of foreign naval fleets and some unauthorized vessels.”

No further details have been released.

This comes as US and Iran attacks over the past two days have reportedly stopped, and it has been reported that mediators are continuing message exchanges with greater intensity so that the two sides can negotiate again.
