“Eslah” system; a new Islamic Republic plan to target Iranians opposed to the regime abroad

🔸Iranian government-linked media have reported the launch of a system called “Eslah”; a plan with the appearance of institutions linked to the Islamic Republic’s intelligence services, announced as aimed at identifying and prosecuting Iranian opponents abroad.

🔸The operators of this system call the targets “traitors outside the country” and say they will continuously monitor the activities of those who are identified as “anti-Iran” or as promoters and defenders of sanctions and military attack.

🔸Based on a report published by the IRIB on 23 Shahrivar (September 14), “Eslah” claims that the outcome of this monitoring could include stripping the targets of citizenship privileges and cutting off their access to financial, communications, and media channels.

🔸Saeed Basheer-Tash, a political activist and member of the central council of the “Haft-Aaban Front” in Belgium, says to Radio Farda: “The presence of Iranians opposed to the government abroad in recent months, especially after the bloody crackdown on protesters in Iran in January last year, has been very powerful and cohesive, and that is what has made the Iranian government afraid.”
