The U.S. president also said: “We have a very powerful control over the Strait of Hormuz. The naval blockade has been extremely effective, and if it weren’t for that, the price of oil would have gone much higher. On average, every day we get rid of about 25 boats.”

Trump said he had information about the Houthis contacting the United States and said: “The Houthis have contacted us and spoken with us, and they do not want us to go after them.”

He added that the Houthis prefer that the United States not get involved and allow more ships to pass. Trump said the Houthis “are not too pleased with just one country,” and added that the United States will resolve this issue.
