Bahrain’s Foreign Ministry said on Saturday, 21 Shahrivar, that the country will not take part in any collective meeting involving the Islamic Republic until diplomatic relations are resumed, and for that reason it will not attend the proposed meeting regarding the situation in the Strait of Hormuz.

The ministry said Bahrain’s position had previously been communicated to Oman through official channels, and Manama still considers dialogue a way to resolve disputes.

The Bahrain Foreign Ministry also said that any agreement on shipping in the Strait of Hormuz must be based on the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea and be confirmed by the International Maritime Organization, ensuring the right of passage of all ships without discrimination, the payment of fees, or the need for authorization.

Bahrain also called for the participation of all member countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council in any agreement related to the Strait of Hormuz.
