🔶 Al-Sharaa: We are counting on France’s active role in preventing the escalation of Israel’s tensions The Syrian president met his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, at the presidential palace in Damascus. Ahmad Al-Sharaa, at a joint press conference with Macron, told reporters that he is counting on France’s “active role” to stop the “escalation of Israel’s tensions” against Syria. He, while condemning “organized Israeli attacks,” said: “We are counting on France’s active role in halting this escalation of tensions and ensuring respect for international agreements.” Macron described attacks on Syrian territory from neighboring countries as “unacceptable,” and said that France is redefining its security and military cooperation with Syria—cooperation which, according to him, also includes the possibility of French special forces supporting the fight against ISIS in Syria. The French president also said that Paris is ready to help Damascus with the reconstruction of the economy and the banking sector. Macron said that France will return the blocked assets of the Assad regime worth more than 50 million euros to Syria.
