According to Channel 13, one of Mossad’s plans to overthrow the Islamic Republic regime involved a covert operation including Kurdish forces.

Thousands of Kurdish fighters were brought to Israel to receive training. The plan envisaged a large-scale Israeli air operation in Kurdish areas of Iran to create a corridor for Kurdish forces to enter the country; the designers hoped that an initial military defeat would spark protests involving millions of Iranians.

However, the plan was soon abandoned after the war began. An Israeli official told Channel 13: “Three days after the start of the operation, an order came: don’t do it.”

The order was issued by the White House, after Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the president of Turkey, objected and following pressure from J.D. Vance, the U.S. vice president’s counterpart.
