UNICEF’s latest report on “Climate risks for children 2026” shows that children in Iran face several serious climate threats at the same time, and that air pollution, sand and dust storms, extreme heat, heatwaves, and drought are among the most important risks ahead of them.
According to this report, the overall index of Iranian children’s exposure to climate risks is estimated at 7.25 out of 10; a figure that places Iran among countries with high risk. In this context, air pollution with a score of 9.39 out of 10 is assessed as the biggest climate threat to Iranian children. After that, sand and dust storms with a score of 7.86, extreme heat with 7.54, heatwaves with 6.97, and drought with 6.65 rank next.
