Donald Trump said a whistleblower who leaked information to “fake media” effectively helped and cooperated with the Iranian regime, and disclosed information related to an operation to search for an American pilot.
Trump: “When they did that, suddenly all of Iran understood that a pilot somewhere in that country’s territory is fighting to save his own life.”
“They put that mission, the pilot’s life, and the hundreds of people who were searching for him in serious danger.”
According to Trump, this disclosure caused Iran to set a bounty for the arrest or killing of an American servicemember.
He added that if the outlet that published this news did not disclose the identity of the whistleblower’s source, he would seek a prison sentence for him.
“The person who published this news will go to prison if they don’t say who provided this information.”
Trump added: “As you probably know, we didn’t talk about the first case for up to an hour. Then someone leaked information; we hope to find that whistleblower. We are pursuing him with very great seriousness.”
