🔶 CENTCOM: We disabled a tanker that was heading toward Iran’s ports
The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) headquarters announced on Wednesday evening, July 15 (24 Tir), that CENTCOM forces disabled the empty tanker “Belma,” flying a flag of Curaçao, which was heading toward Khark Island, in international waters.
According to CENTCOM, despite receiving several warnings from U.S. forces, the tanker continued moving and had tried to break the maritime blockade of the Islamic Republic.
CENTCOM added that a U.S. aircraft, by firing “Hellfire” missiles at the tanker’s smokestack, disabled it, and as a result, another ship did not continue on its route toward Khark Island.
Based on CENTCOM data since the resumption of the maritime blockade of Iran’s ports 17 hours earlier, U.S. forces have diverted the routes of two commercial vessels that were trying to pass through Iran’s maritime blockade.
