The Trump administration has instructed officers of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to stop making more vehicle stops during immigration operations across the United States, following the two recent deadly shootings targeting officers of the agency in Houston and in Biddeford, Maine.

This decision could complicate the process of increasing the detention of immigrants that the Trump administration is pursuing as part of its plan for mass deportations of immigrants.

At the same time, lawmakers and state officials have also called for explanations regarding these two shooting incidents.
