We could also have used electricity produced by nuclear energy! But in this unbearable heat, we are battling power outages.
The Wall Street Journal, citing officials from the U.S. government, reported that U.S. President Donald Trump has approved a 30-year agreement with Saudi Arabia to develop this country’s civilian nuclear program.
According to the report, the agreement—estimated to be worth tens of billions of dollars—gives a central role to American companies in developing Saudi Arabia’s nuclear infrastructure and sidelines foreign competitors.
The Wall Street Journal wrote that if a joint study by the U.S. and Saudi Arabia is approved, American companies will build uranium enrichment facilities on Saudi soil. U.S. government officials say this mechanism, while preserving Washington’s control, prevents the use of Saudi Arabia’s nuclear program for military purposes.
