🔶 US special envoys arrive in Kyiv

Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, Donald Trump’s special envoys, arrived in Kyiv. This is their first official trip to Ukraine as part of a renewed effort to establish peace.

The two US officials met with Vladimir Putin, Russia’s president, in Moscow on Saturday, September 5 (14 Ordibehesht), and then arrived by train at the station in Ukraine’s capital, where they were welcomed by senior Ukrainian officials.

Vladimir Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, had earlier said that his government is ready to hold a “constructive” dialogue with the American envoys, and in a post with a video of Witkoff and Kushner arriving in his country, he wrote: “We have begun the talks.”

The meeting on Saturday between Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner in Moscow lasted for more than three hours behind closed doors, and ended without any major development being announced.
