The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights warned that artificial intelligence could become powerful enough to threaten humanity.

Volker Türk, on Monday, said at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva: “My concern is shared with those within the industry that advanced AI could pose an existential risk to humanity.”

Türk added that in the coming days he will ask companies to reduce the risks.
