🔻U.S. Treasury Secretary: The European Union has joined the operation to economically isolate Iran

Scott Bessent, the U.S. Treasury Secretary, referring to the statement by the G20 ministers of finance and central bank governors, said that “the European Union has officially joined the ‘economic isolation’ operation—of Iran—and we thank them for their firm and early stance.”

Bessent wrote in a post on the X social network that: “The United States, alongside its allies, stands firmly to ensure that the criminal regime of Iran cannot use the global financial system to fund its nuclear ambitions, weapons programs, and its terrorist proxy forces.”

The U.S. Treasury Secretary emphasized that “the world is sending a clear message to the Iranian regime: we will not give up until the last vital financial artery is cut off.”

Two days ago, the European Commission, by issuing a statement on the sidelines of the G20 finance ministers and central bank governors meeting in Asheville, supported U.S. sanctions against Iran.
