Trump: In our recent meeting in Beijing, China, President Xi told me that under no circumstances would he provide weapons to the Islamic Republic of Iran or sell them—and that this statement also applies to Chinese companies. Given our relationship, I believe him, and in addition, I do him very big favors.
Similarly, President Putin, despite the terrible war taking place in Ukraine (our relationship remains in place, just as with President Zelensky), told me that he would not sell weapons to Iran. He understands that I don’t sell weapons to Ukraine; I sell them to NATO countries. They pay the full price, and how those weapons are distributed—I have no information about that.
So, in my view, the two major countries that people often talk about in relation to Iran are not involved in arming Iran. If they were doing it, it would be very bad for them—certainly not in their interest. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President Donald J. Trump
