🔶 The United States criticized the European Union’s billion-dollar fine against Google

The U.S. government has criticized a new billion-dollar fine by the European Union against Google and called it a “source of commercial instability.”

Jameson Greer, a U.S. trade representative, said on Friday, 2 Mordad (24 July), that the European Union often claims it wants stability and predictability, but these actions create widespread instability for the export of U.S. goods and services to Europe.

The European Commission, the day before, fined Alphabet, the owner of Google, a total of 890 million euros.

Google, as an online platform with a dominant position in the market, is required not to give preference to its services over those of third-party providers. However, European Union officials said Google, in the area of internet search, displayed its services in a “preferential” manner.

Google has also made it difficult for third-party application providers for the mobile phone operating system “Android” to offer their apps to users in the app store, as well as to be paid for these services.

This is not the first time that Google has been fined by the European Union for failing to comply with its regulations.
