The corpse of Ali Khamenei, the slain leader of the Islamic Republic, hours after the end of the funeral procession in the streets of Tehran, was taken to the city of Qom. According to an image broadcast by the state-run IRIB news agency, a helicopter carrying his body landed in Qom. Officials of the committee organizing the event said that Ali Khamenei’s body would be taken to the Jamkaran Mosque so that, by the morning of Tuesday, 16 Tir, another funeral prayer (salat al-mayyit) would be held for him; then the procession will continue to the shrine of Fatimah al-Ma‘sumah in Qom.
