I thank all the senators who opposed the Democrats’ renewed efforts to weaken our national security. I congratulate our great Speaker, Mike Johnson, and the Republicans of the House of Representatives for their great success in taking the first step toward passing the budget bill. I thank our exceptional leadership, Judy Arrington, Chip Roy, Michelle Fischbach, Virginia Foxx, Jason Smith, Mike Rogers, GT Thompson, Bryan Steil, our exceptional whip, Tom Emmer, the Majority Leader, Steve Scalise, and everyone who came together to take this important step. This will be one of the most important bills in American history. Strengthening our powerful military, providing assistance to our farmers, and, most importantly, including as much as possible of the “American Rescue Act” in this bill. Our voters will be very happy—and even be impressed! I ask the Senate to pass a budget resolution before going into the August recess; a resolution that can be passed with a simple majority. We are ready to work hand in hand with the Senate for the people of America and get this done!
