🔸 South Korea’s foreign minister is expected to meet with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Washington on Friday. The possible dispatch of this country’s military forces to help ensure the security of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz is among the expected topics in talks between the two sides.

🔸 South Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Wednesday, 25 Shahrivar, that Cho Hyun will travel to Washington from Thursday to Saturday and will discuss relations between the two countries, issues on the Korean Peninsula, and regional and global developments with Rubio.

🔸 Reuters says the meeting comes as Seoul continues to review the possible dispatch of military equipment and forces to support freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

🔸 In recent weeks, Donald Trump has criticized South Korea for what he called the country’s insufficient support for U.S.-led efforts to secure the Strait of Hormuz.

🔸 The South Korean government has said it is reviewing various options, including military measures, but has rejected reports about having reached a final decision to send troops.
