🔶 Several people detained in Iran over allegations of raising the flag of the People’s Mojahedin Organization
Iranian state media reported on Sunday (September 6) that on Shahrivar 15 (15 شهریور) several people were detained on charges of “raising the flag of the People’s Mojahedin Organization.”
Iran’s state television said that all individuals who, on social media, had “raised the white and red flag of this organization” had been identified and detained. The Iranian television did not mention the exact number of those detained.
In videos that had been shared on social media in recent days, individuals riding motorcycles in quiet streets had raised the flag of the organization. According to Iran’s state television, the motorcade was moving “near Karaj, in the west of Tehran,” but the exact time when these images were filmed is still unclear.
The People’s Mojahedin Organization, which was founded in the 1960s in opposition to the Pahlavi government, was declared illegal after the 1979 revolution (the 1357 Iranian year). During the Iran-Iraq war, it fought alongside Saddam Hussein’s forces.
