One of the incidents that stood out strongly in Iran’s recent wars was Israel’s suppression operation against Iran’s active air-defense radars with the Delilah cruise missile.
Delilah, unlike traditional cruise missiles that follow a fixed, direct route predetermined in advance, combines the features of a mini cruise missile with the capabilities of an advanced loitering kamikaze drone munition.
🔸 Relying on its small turbofan engine, this missile can set its flight speed between Mach 0.3 and 0.7. This flexibility allows Delilah to loiter over the target area, buy time, and wait for the golden moment to strike!
🔸 Weighing 187 kg overall and with a limited warhead of between 30 and 54 kg, Delilah is not built to destroy a base; the missile’s target is to hit the most sensitive part of a system, such as the radar antenna of the control room or the launcher tubes, so as to paralyze the entire air-defense system with the least collateral damage.
🔸 With a range of about 250 km, the launching platform can fire from a safe distance and outside the short-range and medium-range air-defense ring of the enemy.
